So last week, I did a diary on how emotions, judgments, and biases are linked. My point was that we tend to pay attention to messages that validate our emotions, and ignore messages that might provide a new or different reality. This can be problematic for humans because it basically relegates us to replaying the same themes over and over...hoping for things to get better. Thankfully, science tell us that we can change this, but few of us engage the process. http://www.sciencedaily.com/...
In my diary from last week, I started my headline with a judgment about Obama to see if people would recognize their emotional and judgmental responses. Some read the article. Others clearly were overwhelmed with emotions and judgments. So much so, that they could not see the truth of my post. They could not hear me. http://www.dailykos.com/... Read the story and the comments and follow me for a discussion about meditation, compassion and the practice of a nonjudgmental stance. Do you want more compassion and peace in the world and are you willing to change your brain to get it?
