I wrote this peice last winter. It is a real account of my husband's struggles as a blue collar electrician. Since I wrote this, my husband has been laid off, since about March 2011. This month, is our last month on health insurance. I run my own business, self employed. I don't think I can make what I am, if I work in an agency and so it's a tough decision regarding the insurance. We are making it month to month as it is. Our health care will be 660.00$. I know that's really a good price, for family and only because it's a union negotiated fee. With the OWS going strong, my hope is that his story will add some mojo to the issues regarding collective bargaining and unions. We forget that these guys literally risk life and limb to build the infra structure that supports us all. This story was originally published on FDL and was then picked and republished by several other publications under the title "The blue Collar Life".
